MotoCross
!
Motocross racing was my first real personal interest.
I always had an interest in cars, and mechanical things,
due to my family influence. Dad was a fitter and Turner;
and the whole family seemed to be mechanically inclined.
My old school mate and I would get our hands onto anything with 2 wheels; old motor-scooters, old step throughs, etc; to tinker, with limited success. They started renting out mini-bikes at the old Moore Park Showgrounds, so we dived into that. We were hooked!

Another one of our memorable ventures was when Mark built an offroad sidecar.
I think it was an old Honda 175 or something. He built a platform for it,
and we would take turns at being rider and monkey, though it was his
so I was more often the monkey.

Bought this new from Scotts Honda. On this I fitted a big Pumper Diaphragm carbie. Reed valve intake, with extra transfer ports milled into the barrel. Dad shortened up the exhaust to tune it for higher revs.
